Meeting and Incentive Agents discover Singapore's sights in style

March 27, 2009

Singapore Tourism Board, Pacific World Singapore and DMS Destination Marketing Services recently hosted six meeting and incentive agents on a familiarisation to Singapore and Bintan Island. Famil participants flew to Singapore on board Singapore Airline’s A380 from Sydney and Melbourne to Changi Airport.

In Singapore, the group spent three nights at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore where they were treated to Singapore slings upon arrival overlooking the Marina Bay Sands development.

With activities hosted by Singapore Tourism and Pacific World Singapore, participants were shown how some of the traditional touring areas such as China Town and Little India can be brought to life for meeting and incentive groups with an interactive “Amazing Race” style activity.

The group were also provided with a look at some of Singapore’s best venues for MICE groups including a mixture of some of the more established venues and some of the hot new venues. Chijmes, an old all girls convent school turned function venue and the glamorous Divine Society are always very popular with Australian groups, but some one of the new developments that were showcased included Long Beach Restaurant and Ooosh bar in the new developed Dempsey Area.

A visit to Sentosa Island, which currently has one third of the island under development, included a trip to the top of the Sky Tower and a luge ride down to the base of the island. The group also participated in a site inspection of Capella Singapore, Sentosa’s new luxury hotel designed by British architect Norman Foster. Owned by the Ritz-Carlton Group the hotel offers a range of meeting and event spaces and the personal touch of mini bar and pillow selections suited to the individual guest’s taste.

Participants on the famil were treated to a number of special experiences including dinner at Indochine Restaurant overlooking the newly renovated and vibrant Boat Quay, a ‘pedicure’ at the Kenjo Fish Spa, a local Singapore chain, a ride on the Singapore Flier and a river cruise.

Before departing home to Australia the group were taken on a short 50-minute ferry ride to Bintan Island to the Nirwana Garden Resort where they were treated to lunch at the magnificent seafood restaurant, Kelong and a spa treatment in the Kedaton Tropical Spa.

Singapore offers so many different options for meeting and incentive groups of any budget and with the excellent support locally from the Singapore Tourism Board and Pacific World Singapore – you are assured of an exceptional program!
